Maple (Hard Maple or Rock Maple) is a deciduous tree growing in the eastern US and Canada. Maple is one of the harder and denser of the common cabinet hardwood species. Maple has some color variation, primarily creamy white with a slight reddish-brown tinge. Even with its smooth fine grain; mineral streaks are common and appear darker when stained. Due to natural resins, Maple has a tendency to 'yellow' or 'amber' with age and light exposure. A mottled or blotchy look may be evident when mid and darker toned stain colors are applied.
